Robert Canis visited the Natural History Group on the 18th November 2014, to present his talk ‘The Photographer’s Year’.
Robert lives in, and works mainly in Kent, sometimes on the local nature reserves. He has a range of special places where he knows he can find interesting flora and fauna. He takes full advantage of his knowledge and knows where and when to take his shots, as well as using these venues to teach photography to paying clients. He also takes groups abroad but keeps numbers small in order to give everyone a share of his attention.
Robert is extremely knowledgeable about wildlife, which shows in his work. As well as taking straightforward shots, some are very creative, especially those shot very early in the morning or late at night when he takes full advantage of the strange light effects. He did talk about lenses, ISOs and other technical issues, as well as telling us how he takes his photographs. His work is often published although he is still a very young man.
Welcome to the Horsham Photographic Society website. We meet on alternate Wednesdays from 7:45 at the Salvation Army Hall in Horsham.
