This is not a technical talk, but will hopefully make the audience aware of the personal approach he takes, both to his photography and the subsequent printing. When viewing the finished print he is guided by an underlying question...”Have I done the image justice?”.This lecture will show a wide variety of images and Chris will discuss some of the considerations and decisions that were taken when the print was made. (The choice of print density, tonality, colour saturation, and paper surface all play an important part in the final success of a print). Generally he follows the maxim of getting the image right at the taking stage, so his aim is to produce a print that portrays the original image in thebest possible way.His belief is that when on location it is important to allow time for the creative process to take place and to let the subject speak. The interaction between himself and the scene allows him to produce a personal response and to record an image in such a way that it is visually appealing, simple and reveals something ofthe feelings and emotions that are experienced when the shutter is fired.
